SAFAS now has the tools to assist timber growers of all scales to calculate and report on their carbon stocks and emissions. This tool is part of the Value Based Platform which allows growers to assessed their key sustainability risks.

The beginning of the mandated process to review, and if required, revise the PEFC endorsed SAFAS forest management certification standard was announced today by the SAFAS Council.

An estimated 25,000 timber growers living in Tribal Authorities make a substantial contribution South Africa’s timber industry.
