This document contains the procedures for setting, recording and revising the SAFAS Standard.

The objective of this report is to provide a description of the process followed during the development of the South African Forestry Assurance Scheme’s Standard for responsible forestry management in order to demonstrate compliance with the SAFAS Standard Setting Procedures (SAFAS 5:2017).

This document was adopted by the SAFAS Council on 2018-05-22. This standard includes implementation of the SAFAS forest certification system for individuals and groups.

This document outlines the accreditation and certification procedures for Certification Bodies for forest management certification under SAFAS 4: 2017 – Forest Management Standard. Chain of Custody certification procedures for Certification Bodies are included in the PEFC ST 2003.

This procedural document sets out the rules for the issuance of PEFC logo use licenses to ensure legally compliant use of the PEFC Logo in accordance with the PEFC Logo usage rules – requirements, PEFC ST 2001:2008.

This procedure document describes the procedures for complaints and appeals to the SAFAS council which concern decisions and/or activities related to SAFAS, including standard setting, interpretation of the SAFAS standards, logo usage licencing and notification of certification bodies.
